Rev. Steve Hilgeman, Pastor

The Rev. Steve Hilgeman is a graduate of Trinity Lutheran Seminary of Columbus, Ohio. Before earning his Masters of Divinity, he had received a Masters of Education with a specialization in Guidance Counseling. Before ordained ministry, Steve spent most of his career working with children and adults with severe mental and physical disabilities and their families. On Sunday mornings, Steve preaches without a manuscript from the sanctuary floor; he says it makes him feel close to the congregation, and the congregation agrees! Steve is married, has three adult children, and owns two adopted dogs.


Allison Ward, Diaconal Minister

Diaconal Minister Allison Ward is on the roster of the ELCA consecrated for Word and Service. She serves as a chaplain at Memorial Health University Medical Center and offers pastoral care to the congregation. She is a 2008 graduate of the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary with a Master of Arts Degree in Religion concentrating in Pastoral Care. Her post-graduate studies have included training in bereavement, mental health care, and chaplaincy. Her professional religious vocation began as a youth director at Redeemer in 2000.  Allison and her husband Jim have two adult children, a dog, a chicken coop, and bees!


Mary Woodard, Music Director

Mary Woodard has been teaching choir and music appreciation classes in Savannah since 2008 and has been the music director at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer since 2012. She is a 2008 graduate of Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor of Music degree with a concentration in Music Education. She is currently working to complete a Masters of Music degree with concentrations in Music Education and Choral Conducting. She is active in local, state, and national music associations and serves on committees to bring school and community music events to Savannah.
