In conjunction with Second Harvest Food Bank, dozens of bags filled with weekend meals are packed every week by volunteers and taken to local schools (currently Coastal Middle, Islands High, and Garrison K-8) for distribution by the school to identified students in need. Volunteers at Redeemer help by funding the program, and by packing and delivering the bags. Adults and youth are welcomed to help with packing! Contact person: Susan Tellefsen.
Next time you go to the grocery store pick up an extra non-perishable item or two, and bring them to the church to put in the grocery cart located in the narthex. The food and other necessity items are distributed by the church office to members and non-members in need.
Have you experienced the power of prayer? Then you will want to participate in Redeemer’s prayer chain. The prayer chain prays for those in need that are listed in the bulletin or called in to the office. Confidentiality is a must.
Members of Thrivent Fraternal Benefit Society fundraise while they are performing important projects at the church.The only requirement is that the members hold an insurance, annuity, or investment contract with Thrivent in order to participate.
A Care Team of two visits our homebound, often with flowers and cards signed by the congregation for special occasions. Members report back at a scheduled meeting with updates and prayer needs. Training is provided. Contact Diaconal Minister Allison Ward for more information.
Help provide meals for families who are coping with illness or loss of a loved one. Upon request of the family, meals may be provided following the funeral service/at home.
Angel Tree / Tree of Hope®
Members and friends select names from a Christmas tree to purchase gifts for folks identified by Lutheran Services of Georgia. Our congregation has paid special attention to the needs of persons with developmental disabilities.
Books for the Military
Books are collected on an ongoing basis to send to our military overseas or local USOs. Place your donated books in the box in the narthex.
